Japanese Design Administration, Its Departure Process and Policy

The Design Promotion Policy Archive is an activity to organize and publish literature on Japanese design administration and promotion. At the same time, they continue their research activities based on the materials collected in this archive. The first research paper was published in the research journal of the academic organization SDAST.
The Ministry of International Trade and Industry started the Design Division in 1958, and started design administration in the Japanese industrial field. This motive has been attributed to the problem of imitation of Japanese products.
This academic paper reveals that the motivation for the establishment of design administration is the introduction of industrial design. The Japanese government understood that design was essential for Japan to survive international competition, and set up a government and promotion organization
