Activities

GATHERING ACTIVITIES

IFDR (International Forum for Design Research) was established as a Design Community Square where design activities to cultivate the next generation gather, talk and collaborate together.
We hope that various researches and projects conducted by research institutes, promotion institutions, design associations, etc. will be gathered in this Design Square.

We would like to introduce the research and projects gathered in this Design Square as of April 2022.
IFDR (International Forum for Design Research) will inform these activities internationally and provide opportunities to talk and collaborate with each other.

1. Research on design administration and promotion activities

Publication and research of Design Policy Archive.

Design administration as an industrial policy in Japan started in 1958. Members of IFDR, Koji Kuroda and Shiro Aoki, organize and publish literature on Japanese design administration and promotion activities as an archive. In addition, they are continuing the
research activities by making use of these documents.
These achievements are introduced on the following web site.

JSSD / Promotion Design Subcommittee

JSSD Japanese Society for the Science of Design which is leading design academic institutions , has some subcommittees that studies design from various perspectives.
Promotion Design Subcommittee is organized mainly by the members of IFDR, and discusses various issues related to design from the perspective of design administration and promotion.

Activities to discover and share design issues

Design Intelligence Award and its promotion

DIA is an international design award established in 2014 by the China Academy of Art with the support of the Zhejiang Provincial Government.
Its characteristics are that the organizer is an academic institution, presents a systematic evaluation scale, conducts rigorous screening, and design-related organizations such as Italy, the United Kingdom, and Japan conduct screening and public relations.
IFDR is conducting screening and promotion in Japan at the request of DIA.
And also hold a convention to introduce award-winning designs from Japan and discuss design issues.

3. Activities to support human resource development for design

Zhejiang University International Design Academy International Collaboration Program

Zhejiang University International Design Academy is developing a collaborative program "Integration and Innovation Design" between Chiba University and the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.
This program aims to develop a methodology that can effectively carry out design activities in China, using design cases in Japan as text.
IFDR supports its implementation.

Activities at China-Japan Industrial Design Center

In 2021, China-Japan Industrial Design Center was established in Suzhou.
This center provides design services in collaboration with Japanese designers. At the same time, design promotion and human resource development business related to design will be developed.
IFDR will cooperate especially in human resources development.

IFDR「国際デザイン研究フォーラム」は、次世代を開拓していこうとするデザイン活動が集まり、共に語り合い、連携していく「デザイン広場」として設立されました。
私たちは、研究機関、振興機関、デザイン団体などによって行われる様々な研究や事業が、この「デザイン広場」に参集されることを期待しています。

2022年４月の段階で、このフォーラムに参集されたプロジェクトを紹介します。
「国際デザイン研究フォーラム」は、これらの活動を国際的に紹介していくとともに、互いに語り合い連携していく機会を提供していきます。

1. デザインの行政や振興活動についての研究

「デザイン振興政策アーカイブ」の公開と研究

日本における産業政策としてのデザイン行政は1958年にスタートしました。このフォーラムのメンバーである黒田宏治と青木史郎は、日本のデザイン行政と振興活動についての文献を整理し、アーカイブとして公開しています。またこれらの資料文献を生かして研究活動を継続しています。
これらの成果は、以下のウエブで紹介されています。

日本デザイン学会・プロモーションデザイン研究部会

日本デザイン学会には、さまざまな視点からデザインについて研究していく部会があります。
プロモーションデザイン研究部会は、IFDRのメンバーが中心となって組織された部会で、デザインの行政と振興活動という視点から、デザインについての様々な課題を討論しています。

2. デザインの課題を発見し共有する活動

デザインインテリジェンスアワードとそのプロモーション

DIAは、中国美術学院が浙江省政府の支援を受けて、２０１４年に創設した国際デザイン賞です。
その特徴は、主催者が学術機関であること、デザインについての体系的な評価尺度を提示していること、厳格な審査をおこなっていること、そしてイタリア、イギリス、日本などのデザイン関連団体が審査と広報に協力していることです。
「国際デザイン研究フォーラム」は、DIAの依頼を受けて、日本での審査とプロモーションを展開しています。そして、日本からの受賞デザインを紹介し、デザインの課題を討論するコンベンションを開催しています。

3. デザインの人材育成を支援する活動

浙江大学・国際デザイン学院　国際連携プログラム

浙江大学・国際デザイン学院は、千葉大学と日本デザイン振興会との連携プログラム「Inteegration and Innovation Deisgn」 を展開しています。
このプログラムは、日本でのデザイン開発事例をテキストとして、中国におけるデザイン活動を有効に行いうる方法論を開拓することを目的としており、IFDRはその実施をサポートしています。

中日インダストリアルデザインセンターの人材育成活動

2021年、蘇州に新しいデザインセンターが設立されました。このセンターは、日本のデザイナーとの連携のもとにでデザイン・サービスを行ないます。同時にデザインプロモーションやデザインについての人材育成事業も展開されます。IFDRは特に人材育成について協力していく予定です。
